Symphony Orchestra of Artur Malawski Philharmonic in Rzeszow

Rzeszow Philharmonic Orchestra was established on 29th April 1995 as Voivodship Symphony Orchestra in Rzeszow consisting of 33 members. Currently the ensemble comprises 82 excellent musicians. The importance of orchestra is confirmed by the fact of cooperation with such outstanding conductors as: Jan Krenz, Henryk Czyż, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Jarzy Katlewicz, Stanisław Wisłocki, Antoni Wit, Eugene Tzigane (laurel of G. Fietelberg International Conductors’ Competition in 2007), Krzysztof Urbański, Paweł Kotla, Tomasz Chmiel, Paweł Przytocki, Agnieszka Duczmal. The orchestra was also conducted by notable foreign conductors, also many famous soloists concerted with it. This is the reason for constant invitations for Rzeszow Orchestra to the most renown music festivals presenting both contemporary art and the masterpieces of previous epochs, i.e.: Wratislavia Cantans, Festival of European Culture in  Krakow, Festival in Busko, Music Festival in Lancut. The orchestra had guest performances abroad: Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Hungary, Russia, France, Sweden, the USA and Spain. Soon (in May) the Orchestra will perform in Philharmonic in Kosice (Štátna Filharmónia). Also the close cooperation with Philharmonic in Miskolc is scheduled for 2010.

The attainments of Rzeszow Orchestra include many records on TV, radio and phonographic (6 compact discs, including highly appraised masterpieces: W.A. Mozart Requiem and the second record in the history of worldwide phonographs of Messa di Gloria G. by Rossini). A record of compact disc shall take place soon, the title of the disc „Polskie pieśni patriotyczne” (Polish Patriotic Songs), performed by Rzeszow Symphony Orchestra conducted by Tomasz Chmiel with participation of the soloist Marcin Wolak.

In previous years the art managers of the Philharmonic were: Janusz Ambros, Stanisław Michalek, Andrzej Rozmarynowicz, Bogdan Olędzki, Józef Radwan, Adam Natanek, Tadeusz Wojciechowski, and Jerzy Kosek. Currently the art manager of Rzeszow Philharmonic is Vladimir Kiradjiev, and the first conductor is Marek Pijarowski.
