Dear Sirs and Madam,

I am pleased to welcome you in the beginning of the new art season 2009/2010. The season shall be special for several reasons.

              Firstly – we face a big challenge; a general refurbishment of the Music Hall Building at Chopin Street, within the framework of the Regional Operational Programme of Podkarpackie Voievodship for 2007-2013. However, we do not stop our activity; thanks to the hospitability of the University of Rzeszow (UR), we organize our concerts in the concert hall of the Institute of Music UR, at 83 Dabrowskiego Street. Several concerts shall take place in some churches of Rzeszow;
Bernardine Convent, Church of Fathers Saletine, and in Rzeszow Cathedral. The Symphonic Orchestra shall give performances i.e. in Mielec, Tarnow, Sedziszow Malopolski and abroad: in Miskolc (Hungary) and in Toledo (Spain).

Secondly – just in this art season we celebrate the 55 anniversary of the beginning of activity of Artur Malawski Philharmonic in Rzeszow, therefore the concert evenings we offer, shall have a special jubilee nature. Such artists as i.e. Olga Pasiecznik, Adam Zdunikowski, Konstanty Andrzej Kulka, and Ewa Czermak shall perform. We will have a pleasure to listen to the masterpieces of the famous composers such as J.S. Bach or L. van Beethoven, as well as these more seldom performed compositions i.e. by T. Takemitsu, F. Janiewicz, J. Elsner, A. Zawadzka-Gołosz.

During this season, symphonic music, opera, chamber music and jazz shall be performed, whereas in carnival we would like to invite you for a music tour around the Europe, also in Spanish music rhythms.

We assigned a motto: fragment of an utterance of well-known philosopher, writer, poet or artist to each concert, hoping, that the words, music and the emotions emerging during concerts shall touch our imagination, bringing us into the areas far beyond any scientific researches.

We hope that both the programmes of the concerts and the performers shall provide you with many positive impressions and compensate any inconveniences resulting from the change of the concerts location.

Within the last season, we asked you to participate in creating the program of this season, by notification of your repertoire suggestions in “the box for the wishes and remarks of the Audience”. We have just used some of your ideas; some other shall be realized in the next art season. We are very thankful for this cooperation, which we would like to continue.

We also do not forget our youngest Audience. During this art season we scheduled the next cycle of school concerts for the „Young Lovers of Music” (YLM). We will continue as well the programme organised for many years at schools, including i.e. „Academy of Jazz for the Youngest Ones”.

I am convinced, that the main focus of our meetings – the MUSIC, which not only, as we say in Poland, makes the manners more gentle, but also forms and improves them, shall make us happier, which I wish you from the bottom of my heart.
